Position Summary

Handling of all clinical trial pharmaceutical matters (drug and vaccine) as assigned by the senior pharmacists and Principal Investigator in the Ebola Vaccine Trial (EBL08).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct drugs and vaccine (investigational medicinal product) accountability
  • Study drugs Storage and dispensing
  • Trainings on study drug/vaccine handling to other staffs
  • Study drugs/vaccine Preparation and administration
  • Monitor study drug/vaccine supplies

Position: Clinical Officer

Position Summary

IHI is looking for a qualified and experienced individual to take the position of Clinical Officer in the EBL08 project.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Treat patients according to National Guidelines for Clinical Management, Standard Treatment Guidelines and Local guidelines
  • To attend internal and external meeting conducted at facility during study conduct.
  • Attend two Departmental Meeting in each financial year.
  • To participate in the development of study standard operating procedure and study documents.
  • Recruit, follow up as study scheduled as specified by each protocol and SOPs.
  • To ensure that protocol standard operating procedures and all related study documents are well communicated and duly followed by all personnel involved in the trial.
  • Ensure that all ethical concerns in the protocols approved by the review board are duly followed in the trial.
  • Supervise study procedure and ensure ring that are all done well as per approved protocol ICH Guidelines and relevant local regulation (National Institute of Medical Research and Tanzania Food and Drug Authority).
  • To work in professional and ethical manner accountability and integrity.
  • Attend community sensitization meeting to recruit study volunteer.
  • To write, present and publish research papers.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by project leader.

Qualification and Experience

Position: Laboratory Technologist

Position Summary

IHI is looking for a qualified and experienced individual to take the position of Laboratory Technician in Immunology Lab for Ebola Vaccine Trial (EBL08) .

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Will support all scientific functions in the immunology laboratory, including planning, reviewing, documenting and reporting matters related to study specific immunology activities.
  • He/She will coordinate linkage between laboratories, clinical team and project manager.
  • To make sure that all safety procedures are adhered to when collecting, labelling and storing all laboratory specimens.
  • To ensure that laboratory data including laboratory findings are recorded as per protocol and stored in appropriate box files.
  • Archive all the study samples following laboratory information management system for easy tracing.
  • Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the PI
  • Perform routine tests in assigned area of the laboratory as per current SOP.
  • To perform isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC), separation and storage of serum and plasma.
  • To assist in hematological and clinical chemistry sample analysis.
  • To document and report protocol deviations and implement CAPA for the reported deviations.
  • To perform malaria antibody ELISA, Intracellular cytokine staining, and ELISPOT assays.
  • To participate in scientific discussions and project related meetings, and maintaining inventories for stored samples, reagents and lab materials.

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Medical laboratory sciences /biotechnology/immunology or other relevant experience provided they demonstrate the following skills in
  • Previous experience or familiarity with immunological assays such as ELISA, ELISPOT, ICS, PMBC isolation, serum/plasma separation

Skills and Competencies

  • Immunological laboratory analysis.
  • Ability to follow and adhere to existing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clinicians, study participants, administrators, auxiliary personnel, regulators,

Position: Research Officer (MD)

Position Summary

IHI is looking for a qualified and experienced individual to take the Research Officer’s in the Ebola Vaccine Trial (EBL08).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and screen potential study participants based on study eligibility criteria.
  • Recruit, follow-up and provide clinical care to all study participants in a clinical trial as per study protocol, and coordinate tracing of participants in case of missed visits.
  • Evaluate and report safety reports, protocol deviations and any other protocol specific reports.
  • Ensure protocol compliance and protection of the participant rights and their wellbeing.
  • Participate in sensitization, analysis and interpretation results, and dissemination of results to the volunteers and community at large.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of good clinical practice guidelines (i.e., GCP, ICH), and compliance issues.
  • Coordinate clinical activities in close supervision with the study PI to ensure that the study specific SOPs are complete and are updated regularly.
  • Ensure all study related forms are properly and accurately filled and data is entered on daily in electronic data capturing tools.
  • Respond to queries, concerns and issues raised by the supervisor/principal investigator or a trial monitor.
  • Ensure that participant’s privacy and confidentiality are maintained.
  • Support the PI in the writing of clinical and progress study reports, and manuscript preparation including writing own case reports or manuscripts.
  • Communicate with other study staff regularly at scheduled meetings and to actively participate in all study meetings.
  • Maintain close professional relationship with government officials in the study area.
  • Work in a professional and ethical manner with competence, accountability and integrity.
  • Participate in development of concept notes and grant writing activities within the department.

Position: Assistant Data Officer

Position Summary

IHI is looking for a qualified and experienced individual to take the position Assistant Data Officer in the Ebola Vaccine Trial (EBL08). He/she will be responsible for data entry and supporting the management of the clinical trial databases at the Clinical Trials Facility

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inserts and modifies data in clinical databases from case report forms and other data collection instruments using clinical trial data collection systems.
  • Verify data by comparing it to source documents.
  • Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested.
  • Logs incoming clinical trial documents and ensures that documents are correctly routed through the data operations.
  • Maintains study participant files.
  • Compiles requested information on participant files and clinical documentation for data operations and clinical personnel.
  • Sort and organize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost.
  • Support in the design and development of and case report forms and databases.
  • Communicate with other study staff regularly at scheduled meeting.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the data manager.

Qualification and Experience

  • Diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology/Health Informatics or Statistics
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel, Access and other databases will be a plus.
  • Proven experience of performing compilation and entry of clinical trial-related data into clinical trial databases
