How SQA Exam are marked

This year there are changes to how the Sqa Exam are marked, the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) said changes to the way National 5, Highers, and Advanced Highers are assessed will continue. taking into account the disruption to learning caused by the global pandemic, will remain in place for the next coming academic year.

SQA made significant modifications to course assessments for National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher courses, and some National 3 and National 4 at the beginning of the 2020-21 academic year to reduce the volume of assessment and ease the workload of learners, teachers and lecturers. These changes remained in place for the current 2022-23 year.

How to Check My SQA Exam Results 2023

  4. You must update your MySQA profile if any of your contact information changes after you sign up.

If you activated your MySQA account, signed up for our text or email service and took National 4, National 5, Higher or Advanced Higher qualifications, we will send your results by email and/or text from 8am on Tuesday 9 August 2023. You will also get your certificate through the post on Tuesday 9 August 2022.

How to appeal for SQA exam results 2023

You can directly register an appeal with the SQA if you think you have a case. You can do this at any time between Tuesday, August 9, and Tuesday, August 30. Additionally, you might ask your school, college, or training facility to file an appeal on your behalf.

If you want your instructor or lecturer to submit an appeal after you receive your result, let them know. Submission deadlines for institutions of higher education or training: Priority appeals: August 19, 5 p.m. All additional appeals are due by Friday, September 2, at 5:00 PM.

It’s critical to realize that a successful appeal could result in your grade increasing, decreasing, or remaining unchanged. The College will be notified by the SQA if you file an appeal.

UHI Inverness will provide the SQA with all the information required to calculate your projected result. An appeal can be withdrawn by a student. Please go to the appeals process for further details.

SQA Marks and grades

All National Qualification levels have 5 grades for higher examinations: A, B, C, D, and No Award. A D-grade on standardized mark systems corresponds to scores between 40 and 49 percent. Additionally, each receives tariff points that count toward the UCAS system.
