Azam FC – established in 2007 – began as a football team of SSB workers who took the game of soccer as a hobby. It is no secret that SSB through Bakhresa Group is one of the leading Industrial Houses in Tanzania and Eastern Central Africa.
Usajili Azam FC 2022/2023
According to the Team Chairman Mr Abubakar Said Bakhresa who is also the CEO of Bakhresa Goup of Companies, Yusuf have always been fond of local football and footballers, as a hobby he has helped many footballers to secure chance to develop their career in Europe. So when the family adopted the idea of fooming a football club, Yusuf first major target was to get the best players who will help the now established Azam FC gain promotion to play in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League.

That dream was realised as Azam FC joined the top flight football in 2008/09 season. Indeed, there was no looking behind as Azam FC with star-studded players became a force to reckon in the domestic league.
Azam FC finished in eighth position in its first season on top flight football. But the team made a tremendous improvement the following season finishing in the third position.
The good thing about Azam FC is that it has a strong youth team and this was depicted in the Tanzania Mainland Under 20 Premier League whereby the team won the trophy.
