  4. UBC Winter Term 1 2022 classes start on Tuesday, September 6 2022. It is the start of Winter Session Term 1 for most faculties.
  5. The First-day orientation program for undergraduate students in most programs is Tuesday, September 6 2022.
  6. According to UBC academic calendar 2022-2023, Wednesday, September 7 2022 is the last day for payment of the first instalment of fees for registration and course changes made before September 1. Students who have not paid their fees are placed on financial hold; further registration activity is not permitted, grades are not released, and graduation diplomas are withheld.

  11. Graduate Studies: The last day for withdrawal from the instalment-based tuition program for a 100% refund is Sunday, September 18 2022. Courses are dropped through the Student Service Centre.
  12. Monday, September 19 2022 is the last day for change in registration and for withdrawal from most Winter Session Term 1 course without a withdrawal standing of W recorded on a student’s academic record.
  13. The last day for eligible students to apply for an exemption from the U-Pass program is Monday, September 19 2022.
  14. New International Students’ iMED opt-out deadline is Monday, September 19 2022, according to UBC academic calendar 2022-2023.

  28. Friday, October 21 2022 is the last day for final master’s theses and doctoral dissertations to be accepted by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for degrees to be conferred at November Congregation. Must be approved and accepted by 4:00 pm.
  29. Friday, October 21 2022 is the last day for students to complete all program requirements (including major papers) for non-thesis master’s degrees to be conferred at November Congregation is Friday, October 21 2022.
  30. Teacher Education Program: Professional Development Day is Friday, October 21 2022 – Classes are Cancelled (all options).
  31. Friday, October 28 2022 is the last day for withdrawal using the Student Service Centre from most Winter Session Term 1 courses with withdrawal standing of W recorded on a student’s academic record according to the UBC academic calendar 2022-2023.
  32. The last day for completion of bachelor’s degree program requirements for graduation in November is Friday, 28 October 2022.
  33. Tuesday, November 1 2022 is the last day for sponsored students to submit applications to have fees billed to a sponsoring organization for Winter Session Term 2 (January to April) tuition fees. Students who do not submit their applications by the deadline will be required to pay their second instalment of Winter tuition fees by January 11, 2023 to avoid financial hold procedures.
  34. UBC Winter Session Term 1 midterm break 2022 begins on Wednesday, November 9 2022 to Friday, November 11 2022, for most faculties (November 9 to 11 inclusive). Lectures and laboratories are cancelled. Some branches of the Library and other facilities remain open.

  45. Students wishing to be considered for a Presidential Scholars Award must submit their online application for admission to UBC by December 1, 2022, according to UBC academic calendar 2022-2023. This includes paying the admission fee and submitting in-progress or final Grade 11 and Grade 12 marks as or if requested in the online application.
  46. Monday, December 5 2022 is the last day of classes for LAW.
  47. Wednesday, December 7 2022 is the last day of classes for most faculties.
  48. LAW School Term 1 (December) Law examinations begin on Thursday, December 8 2022 (December 8 to 22 inclusive).
  49. Friday, December 9 2022 is the last day for supervisors to submit the Appointment of External Examiner form to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for the April 30 program end date.
  50. Term 1 (December) examinations begin on Sunday, December 11 2022 to Thursday, December 22 2022 for most faculties, day and evening classes (December 11 to 22 inclusive). Saturdays and Sundays are included in the exam schedule.
  51. Tuesday, December 13 2022 is the application deadline for the term-based Exchange, Global Seminar.
  52. Wednesday, December 14 2022 is the last day for final doctoral oral examinations in time for December 31 program end date.

  54. Winter Term 2 Only Bursary applications are available to students online through the Student Service Centre between December 15, 2022 and January 15, 2023, which closes at midnight. Students must have confirmed full-time enrolment for Term 2, must be receiving their Term 2 only student loans and must have assessed unmet financial needs to be considered for general bursaries.
  55. Teacher Education Program: The last day of classes for Term 1 (all options) is Friday, December 16 2022.
  56. Friday, December 23 2022 is the last day of Winter Session Residence Contract for Winter Session Term 1–only residents.
  57. Totem Park, Place Vanier, and Orchard Commons Residences close at 12 noon on Friday, December 23 2022 for the holiday break and all residents are required to vacate at that time. Residences will reopen at noon on Sunday, 8 January 2023.
