National Bank of Commerce (NBC) Limited Tanzania and the Tanzania Football Federation have signed a sponsorship contract Sh2.5 billion for the 2022-2023 league season.

Speaking at the signing ceremony on Wednesday August 6, NBC’s managing Director Theobald Sabi they have decided to sponsor the league as part of their involvement in sports development and other activities in the country.
Sabi said that Sh2.5 billion is meant for the 2022/2023 season despite the fact that they have signed a three-year contract with Tanzania Football Federation (TFF).

Tanzania Mainland Premier Soccer League will officially started on 15 August 2022. With the match marking the start of the Community Shield season between Simba against Yanga being played on 13 August 2022
The league this season 2022/2023 will feature a total of only 16 teams if it is two less compared to those of last season the 2022/2023 season.

The teams that will participate in the league for the 2022/2023 season are Simba who are the defending champions, Yanga who are the second winners, Azam Fc who are in third place and Biashara United who are in fourth place.
The other teams are Kindondoni Municipal Council KMC, Tanzania Police, Tanzania Prisons, Dodoma City, Namungo, Mbeya City, Ruvu Shooting, Kagera Sugar, Coastal Union, Mtibwa Sugar
The league will also witness two teams from the First Division, the teams being Mbeya Kwanza from Mbeya and Geita Gold Fc from Geita region.
