Jinsi Ya Kupata Cheti Cha Kifo 2024
A death must be registered within 30 days, however the law allows late registration. The responsibility for registering deaths lies with the following.
- The doctor who certified the death, or
- Close relatives of the deceased who were present at the time of his death or were present at the end of his illness, or
- 3. The owner of the house, or the resident of the house, or anyone who took responsibility for burying the deceased.
1. Registration of Death Within 30 Days
If the death has occurred in a hospital, health center or clinic, make sure you get a Funeral Permit. If a death occurs at home, report to the Village Executive Officer, or to the District Registrar to obtain a funeral permit. This should be done within 30 days.
2. Procedures for Obtaining a Death Certificate
- Submit the funeral permit to the Registrar of the district in whose jurisdiction the death occurred.
- Pay the required fee to get the certificate (the current fee is Tsh. 3500/=).
3. Late Death Registration
- Fill in and submit Form D3, attach supporting documents (memoirs of the family meeting and a letter from the relevant government authorities such as Ward, Executive Officer, Village Executive Officer) to confirm the death.
- Submit a small photo of the applicant
- Pay the required fee (the current fee is Tsh. 4000/=) if the death is more than 30 days and less than 10 years. If the death is more than 10 years, the fee is Tsh. 10,000/=).

Making Corrections to the Certificate
- Submit a correction request.
- Attach documents to support your request.
- Submit the certificate that needs to be corrected.
- Pay the required fee when the application is accepted (the current fee is Tsh. 6500/= where 3000/= is the correction fee, 1,500/= the search fee and 2000/= the certificate fee).

PROCEDURES TO OBTAIN THE BIRTH AND DEATH E-SERVICES
The Registration Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA) would like to inform the Public that, they can now apply our services below through online:
- New applications for registration of Births and Deaths.
- Verification of Birth and Death certificate.
Important things to consider when applying: Jinsi Ya Kupata Cheti Cha Kifo 2022/2023
- Save the information you used to create an account.
- The applicant must have his or her correct information together with both parents.
- Applicant will receive a Payment bill/Control number and will be required to pay through Bank (NMB and CRDB) or Mobile Payment Services (M-PESA, TIGO PESA and AIRTEL Money) only under the information provided to you.
- Applicant to have soft copies of attachments required in pdf format.
- Applicant to specify the district of pickup point to collect the certificate.

Uhakiki wa Vyeti vya Vizazi na Vifo | Uhakiki wa Vyeti RITA
This is a new service that enables the applicant to submit a certificate verification request
of birth and death electronically from anywhere.
The applicant will be required scan the birth or death certificate he needs to be verified and then send it through electronically to be verified. The feedback will be sent to the account you created section labeled “View Status”.
