The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) was established by Act of Parliament No. 11 of 1995, and started its operations on 1st July 1996. In carrying out its statutory functions, TRA is regulated by law, and is responsible for administering impartially various taxes of the Central Government.

The TRA calculator helps to prepare the Tax Payable when you import a Car into Tanzania from different countries. How to Use TRA Vehicle Tax Calculator Tanzania

Step 1: Vehicle Make and Model

Select the make and model of the vehicle you are ordering or have ordered – this will determine the current retail price for this vehicle.

Engine Size: If the engine size shown on the inspection certificate is different, please enter this to ensure the correct value is used. Once done – Click on Calculate Duty

Step 2: Description of the Customs Value in the results

The revenue authorities obtain the customs value of the vehicle to determine whether the invoice value submitted to them is correct or not. If the customs value is higher than the invoice value then this value will be used or not.

Step 3: Vehicle Purchase Price in Foreign Country:

This explains that the price is for a purchase in a foreign country – the currency of the purchase price can be selected after which the amount can be set.

Freight Cost to Dar Es Salaam: If the purchase price is not a CIF or CNF price, kindly input the estimated freight cost to Dar Es Salaam.
