Institutional History
In Tanzania nutrition activities were initiated by the Ministry of Health in the 1950s based on reports showing an increase in the number of deaths, an increase in various diseases, the occurrence of hunger and the presence of other stimulants that contributed to sustainable growth.

Significant efforts were made to combat all conditions, such as the deterioration of the health status of certain groups of people.
In addition, a cross-sectoral co-operation system was implemented and led to the development of the formation of a cross-sectoral Advisory Committee whose main objective was to provide advice on various nutrition issues.

Mission: To co-ordinate, guide and facilitate the implementation of effective nutritional interventions aimed at preventing and controlling malnutrition problems in Tanzania.
