Position: RVWG Program Manager

We are looking for a dynamic, organized, and flexible individual with excellent interpersonal skills to manage Rift Valley Women’s Group (RVWG) initiatives to ensure economic development in the community. This position will manage and support the Rift Economic Advancement Program (R.E.A.P) and their current portfolio of women empowerment initiatives to ensure their constant growth, improve production capacity, and maintain a strong demand for products.

This position will be based at the Rift Valley Children’s Village (RVCV), which is home to 100 orphaned children. RVCV is located in a remote and impoverished village in Karatu District, adjacent to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Duties and Responsibilities | Nafasi za kazi Tanzanian Children’s Fund

The duties of the RVWG Program Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify the best locally sourced materials, while ensuring the high quality and uniqueness of products
  • Forecast ordering of materials and look for new suppliers and best prices periodically
  • Re-structure margin analysis and update cost sheets as needed
  • Oversee and update gift shop inventory and re-order as needed
  • Inform volunteers and visitors about the Rift Economic Advancement Program (R.E.A.P) department and its initiatives
  • Maintain accurate record of sales, expenses, cash-on-hand and bank accounts for monthly bookkeeping to R.E.A.P Director
  • Process sales through EFD machine and maintain accurate revenue records for the Tanzania Revenue Authority
  • Meet weekly with the different women empowerment groups to assess quality, product orders, and handle payments
  • Identify potential new skills and trainings that could be introduced to new members of the community
  • Identify trainers and costs for possible re-trainings of certain groups
  • Maintain active communication with current partnerships to secure a strong demand for products
  • Visit shops and lodges periodically to establish new partnerships
  • Secure participation at the Arusha Community Christmas Fair, the Kili-Karibu Tourism and Industry Fair, and other trade fairs in Tanzania
  • Identify potential outlet opportunities to enter U.S. markets (fairs, trunk shows, online stores)
  • Update communications and marketing materials and platforms while collaborating with the Sponsorship and Communications Coordinator
  • Introduce a series of personal and professional development workshops and trainings for R.E.A.P Members and staff members
  • Collaborate with loan officers during monthly client trainings to help develop financial literacy
  • Provide support to R.E.A.P staff in the collection of repayment
  • Collaborate with R.E.A.P staff in the design and implementation of the Impact Survey report
  • Maintain a clear vision and detailed progress reports for all R.E.A.P initiatives and activities
  • Identify potential funding opportunities for future R.E.A.P initiatives
  • Participate in activities at the Rift Valley Children’s Village and engage with the community as requested

Qualifications: Tanzanian Childrens Fund Job Vacancy

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preference for International / Community Development, Business Administration
  • Strict minimum commitment of 2 years required
  • Experience in program management, sales, or business development preferred
  • Proficiency in Swahili strongly preferred but not required
  • Candidate must be outgoing, friendly, easygoing, and patient with all types of personalities coming from all walks of life, as well as open-minded to different experiences and cultures
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Initiative driven and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Team oriented and collaborative
  • Ability to thrive living in a very beautiful but rural setting in Africa
  • Must love kids! You will be living and working on a campus home to 100 children!
  • Experience living abroad for six months or more is helpful but not required
  • Sense of humor and positive attitude
